Frederik is shown the design

of the 23 houses

On behalf of the Trustees and Committee members of  Phi Phi AID I wish you all a rather belated happy New Year.  My recent cold trip to England means that I am somewhat behind with my activities. Because I was in England for Christmas I was unable to attend the fourth tsunami memorial service on Phi Phi Island.

Since my last newsletter we have assisted with a new evacuation bridge to a path up the mountain behind the school at Tonsai to be used in an emergency.  The original bridge was inadequate and damaged.

We have also again supplied building material for the 23  houses being build in the jungle, referred to in the previous newsletters.  The progress is rather slow, as the members of the co-operative society are building the houses themselves, and do so in their free time.  Some time ago I visited the site again with La.
