Nuttapon with his mother in Krabi

Phi Phi AID has yet again been active, in spite of the long gap since the last newsletter!

We have paid the Sriphong Phukaoluan (Krabi) Foundation the maintenance fee for the 2 orphans for 2009 (ref.  previous newsletters).  I have met the 2 boys again, one of them at his home, the other one in Krabi town.

La took  Suhaimee and his mother to Bangkok some time ago to see an eye specialist, but unfortunately nothing can be done about his blind eye.  He is, however, far less shy towards me than he used to be, and his mother continues to telephone me regularly.  I understand he is lively at school.

The Tsunami Houses project is continuing to develop, but slowly, as they rely on ‘self-help’.  The drains have been completed as have 2 of the houses.  I have visited twice recently, and attended one of their meetings with La.  I continue to be impressed by the fabulous location.  It is within walking distance of the busy island’s centre, but up-hill in the jungle and extremely peaceful.  The view is breathtaking,  but I find the climb to the site rather exhausting in the extreme heat!
