New uniforms are presented
to all pupils of the school
Khun Wongsakorn’s house was badly damaged, in a non-tourist area of Tonsai Village. Phi Phi AID has supplied building material for repairs so that his family can join him again after living in refugee quarters in Krabi.
In addition, Phi Phi AID bought a washing machine to enable his wife to earn a living by having a small laundry. Both he and his wife were delighted when I visited, although the washing machine had not yet been installed.
Many donors express an interest in the school at Tonsai, Phi Phi Island. You may recall that the school re-opened on 1 November 2005, but only 42 children registered. Since then the numbers have increased considerably, and at present 114 children attend, and the staff has increased to 9, plus Head Teacher.
At the beginning of the Thai new academic year I presented all the pupils with a new school uniform donated by Phi Phi AID. I always enjoy visiting the school, and I am on all occasions welcomed warmly by Khun Wirawat, the Headteacher, his staff and the pupils.
