Phi PHI AID - NEWSLETTERS
JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2006 - 2
Khun (Mr) Karim Kundang’s boat was badly damaged, which he has repaired. He has a child at Phi Phi School. PPAID bought an anchor, rope, ladder and steering set.
I also attended the official memorial ceremony in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and various other dignitaries. I was given a seat of honour, and with the ‘dignitaries’ laid flowers on a temporary memorial monument. I was unable to attend all events that day, but have been told all were well received and attended. I did, however, watch and listen to the children and staff of Phi Phi School sing a specially composed song for the occasion. All were wearing Phi Phi AID t-shirts! Apart from the Thais there were many other nationals present throughout the two memorial days, most of whom had come to the island specially for the occasion.
The following projects were completed since the November – December Newsletter:
Khun (Mrs) Chawee Tonggend worked in a restaurant which was very badly damaged and has not yet been repaired. Then she helped the organisation Hi Phi Phi. She has opened a small restaurant, and PPAID has bought an upright, glass fronted refrigerator for storing and displaying drinks.
