Phi PHI AID - NEWSLETTERS
APRIL 2005
I apologise for the lack of communication, but I assure you I have not stood still. In fact, my head is buzzing, as it has done since 26 December 2004.
I continue to go to Phi Phi Island about once a week to observe the progress of clearing, cleaning, repairing, re-opening, etc. The work is slow, but there are many enthusiasts, both Thai and non-Thai, who are exerting themselves to an amazing extent.
I am in England for a brief visit and have met the trustees/officers of Phi Phi AID, as well as my brothers in Holland. All have been very active and encouraging since we last met in January.
Phi Phi AID’s Trust Deed has been completed and is being processed by the Charity Commission. We now have a bank account with Alliance and Leicester and we should be grateful if you would send your donations to:
Phi Phi AID, Grayleas, Smarts Hill, Penshurst, Kent TN11 8EB, England
All donations made previously have now been transferred to the above account.
I have become involved with Thai Together, an organisation trying to coordinate all other organisations in connection with the tsunami in Thailand www.thaitogether.org. There are vast numbers of participants, covering a vast area, from Ranong - well North of Phuket - to Trang - well South of Krabi. My poor old BMW has had to work hard. As a result of all the meetings I have attended, all the travelling I have done, and will do, and the many people I have met, all the research I have done, the refugee camps I have visited, I now have a much better picture of the needs for Phi Phi Island.
